What is the WannaTalkPoker Senate?
Simply put: WannaTalkPoker is taking "online community" to its natural conclusion.
Unlike other online poker forums--and online forums in general, for that matter--WannaTalkPoker is not run by one individual, who decides unilaterally who stays and goes, and how things operate in HIS or HER forum. It USED to be, until the time came to take the entire community in another direction.
The Senate is a group of WannaTalkers elected to represent the community in all its needs. From scheduling tournaments, to setting up contests and bankrolling plans, and allocating funds for prize pools, to managing the future course of the entire community, the WTP Senate is the body of individuals that make it happen. They operate entirely by the will of the membership, and there are biannual elections, to keep the entire ruling body focused on just what goals the membership finds important. Your Senate works hard to bring you what YOU want to see, and they listen closely to your input.

Your Current Senate is listed to the left. You can contact them in a variety of ways, although the SENATE CHAMBERS Forum is considered the best, and is preferred by the Senate.
Also listed are those Senators who have served with distinction in the past, and continue to help build the community even now.

How does it affect You?
The Senate not only keeps WannaTalkPoker running, but they literally "keep WannaTalkPoker running".
WannaTalkPoker had gone as far as it could under the old methodology, and was days away from being converted into a "banner farm", until a group of committed members began taking matters into their own hands. The Senate concept was born, and the first group of appointed Senators began establishing a precedent for all future Senates. Without them, this site and community would have been shut down.
Now, it's entirely in yours and their hands.
This means that you can get what YOU want out of a poker forum. Better games, better prize pools, better friendships. Have an idea that you think might work? Propose it to the Senate, and if they don't agree with you, take matters into your own hands, and RUN for a Senate seat yourself, and make things happen!

HOW Does it Work?
Just like any democracy works: With voting, and open dialogue.
The first Senate was appointed, but all following Senates are elected into office, in biannual elections. Holding two elections allows for keeping the Senate fresh, while always ensuring that there are some experienced Senators remaining, to assist in getting work done.
The first elections of the year take place in April, and three Senate seats open up in this election. This is when existing Senators can choose to keep their seats, and run for re-election, and new candidates can run for the position.
The last elections of the year take place in September, and the final four Senate seats are open. As in April, current Senators can choose to run for re-election, and new candidates can take this opportunity to try their hands at helming the WannaTalkPoker ship.
The polls for all elections will be located in the HALL OF RECORDS, and will be prominently announced to the membership, so that all may vote, and you are all encouraged to do so! Get involved, and make you WannaTalkPoker experience the better for it!
